Installation & Fitment Guide

NINE GEARS / INSTALLATION & FITMENT

Plan the fit. Protect the finish.

A good installation starts before any part is attached. Use this guide to prepare for your upgrade, identify the right instructions and know when to involve a professional.

This is general guidance. Product-specific instructions and the vehicle manufacturer's service procedures take priority. Installation methods, fixings and curing times vary by part and vehicle.

Before you begin

  • Match your model, chassis, year and any stated equipment or body-style requirements to the product listing. Choose the corresponding model and year options.
  • Inspect the part and packaging on arrival. If the item is damaged or appears incorrect, stop and contact us before fitting.
  • Read any supplied instructions, identify the required tools and confirm the installation method before removing existing parts.
  • Trial-position the part without drilling, bonding or forcing it into place. Protect nearby paintwork with suitable clean, non-abrasive materials.

If alignment or attachment points do not match, stop. Do not cut, drill or modify the part or vehicle to make it fit without product-specific guidance.

Replacement mirror covers

UNDERSTAND THE COVER TYPE

Replacement cover concept: old outer cover removed and replacement cover fitted to the existing assembly OUTER COVERExisting mirror assembly
Replacement coverThe existing outer cover is replaced. Follow the procedure for the actual mirror assembly; the drawing does not show clip positions or removal order.
Overlay concept: additional shell sits over the existing outer mirror cover ADDED SHELLOriginal cover stays in place
Overlay / capAn added shell sits over the original cover. Use this method only for a product explicitly sold as an overlay. Adhesive type and preparation are product-specific.

Replacement covers replace the existing outer mirror housing cover; they should not be treated as adhesive overlays unless the individual product explicitly specifies that design.

Compare the cover profile and attachment points with your vehicle's existing mirror assembly. Follow the model-specific removal and refitting procedure. Mirror glass, clips, wiring and any installed cameras or sensors can be vulnerable during disassembly, so professional installation is recommended.

Do not assume that mirror glass must be removed on every vehicle. Avoid force and use only the procedure appropriate to the actual mirror assembly. Check normal mirror operation and any affected equipment after installation.

CHECK THE FIT BEFORE ATTACHMENT

Trial positioning concept: check the part is centred and both ends align before permanent attachment Check centre, edges and clearances
Position first. Attach second.Trial-position the part to assess alignment and clearance. The centre line is a visual reference, not a measurement or drilling guide.
If attachment locations do not align, stop instead of forcing the part Mismatch? Stop and check the application
Do not force a mismatchIf the part profile or intended attachment locations do not match, stop and contact support. Do not drill new holes or alter the part just to make it fit.

Position the part to check alignment, clearances and the intended attachment locations before making permanent changes. An installer should determine the correct fasteners and mounting procedure from the product instructions and vehicle structure.

There is no universal screw count, drilling pattern or torque setting for these parts. Do not rely on adhesive alone where mechanical attachment is required. Use appropriate vehicle supports if access underneath is needed; never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack.

Check that the fitted part clears moving components and does not obstruct required lights, cooling openings, exhaust outlets or sensors. Allow for any reduction in ground clearance.

Spoilers & bonded trim

Confirm whether the specific part uses adhesive, mechanical fixings or a combination. Trial-position it and establish alignment before attachment.

Where bonding is specified, prepare the surfaces with products compatible with both finishes. Follow the adhesive manufacturer's instructions for temperature, application, pressure and full curing time before driving, washing or loading the part.

Do not substitute a universal adhesive, add heat or drill the vehicle unless the product-specific procedure supports it.

05 / NINE GEARS

Lighting & electronic accessories

Use a suitably qualified installer for electrical work. Compatibility can depend on the original lighting or electronic equipment, connectors and vehicle configuration.

Follow the relevant service procedure for power isolation and installation. Do not assume that an accessory is plug-and-play or requires no coding unless the listing establishes this. Confirm function and check for faults before using the vehicle.

06 / NINE GEARS

After installation

Check that the part is secure and that affected vehicle functions work correctly before driving. Follow any product-specific settling, curing and inspection instructions. Reinspect the installation after initial use and during routine vehicle checks; if a part becomes loose or affects safe operation, stop using it and have it inspected.

Keep your order details and any installation records. Installation does not remove your statutory consumer rights.
